EPA extends deadlines under Steam Electric Effluent Guidelines rule
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued deadline extensions for compliance under its Steam Electric Power Generating Effluent Guidelines (40 CFR Part 423). The rule, finalized in 2024, tightens discharge limits for pollutants (e.g. mercury, arsenic, selenium) from coal-fired and other steam electric plants. Read more.

HHS OCR refers Harvard to suspension/debarment over Title VI violations
The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), via its Office for Civil Rights (OCR), announced the referral of Harvard University to the HHS suspension/debarment office. This referral follows a Notice of Violation under Title VI, alleging that Harvard engaged in “deliberate indifference” toward discrimination and harassment of Jewish and Israeli students since October 2023.
